Nói János
Songtext
Sometimes I come and go
She thought she would have been better off on her own
Since all of her friends told her so
But still she’s not quite sure what they meant
Sometimes she comes and goes away
Away from here, into other worlds I don’t know
With other natures and different people,
Where new cities keep bursting out like mushrooms
As new capitalists keep discovering these planets
Look! The first child born here, how far it is
And how high that mountain is, and how far we’ve got, how come?
Without us even noticing, how come?
So far away but you’ve always been here, how come?
How come? How come?
How come? How come?
How do you plan to use the profit?
Microphones to record, cameras to make visuals, books, pens and pencils to write many songs 🙂
Description
János is a translation mistake of my name by a Hungarian friend. In this language, the surname comes before the name, so we invented Nói as a surname, from Romanian Noi, plural of “new”. The project is about shaping new sonic, visual and performative identities and connecting between humans in the live experience. Creating fluttering light worlds of sounds, drawing inspiration from cinema.
Tell us about the best concert you ever played!
At Goethe Haus In Bolzano, it’s been a pretty intimate concert. I remember with affection when this American man, who was enjoying the concert with closed eyes, said “That’s the winner!” after our song “Untitled (sometimes she comes and goes away)”, and I thanked him and told him that I knew, I knew it indeed, that it was our best song.
To whom does your music speak?
To those who are open. Open towards the possibility of becoming other within sound, open to inhabit limits. To whom is not afraid of limits, but rather drawn to them.
How do you envision your musical journey?
A project open to propitiate encounters between various art forms, if such exist, dreaming to create little poetic worlds. Also dreaming to ennoble many sonic beings that we continuously neglect, such as fridges or creaking parquets, without forgetting the passion for guitars and synths. I’d love to work on an album and play live across Europe on an indie label.
