Tell us about the best concert you ever played!
‘Boogie in the Bhealaich’ was a community festival in the west coast that I played at this summer as well as ‘Ferally good’ Folk Festival. Both were wholesome environments that fostered community and connection. Playing at these festivals and with other music lovers reminded me why I love being a musician; bringing rawness to the world, connecting with others and journalling the hardships of life.
To whom does your music speak?
My music speaks to people who are also enamoured by the beauty in the world, but also the pain of it. In my songwriting there is beauty but also grief, for how we let the beauty of the world become suffocated by the systems that work against us- greed, power and hate. For me activism & art go hand in hand & hands are best while strumming a guitar. My songs weave stories of life experiences, the delicate emotions of the world, the foam that washes from the ocean and the lichens that scale rock.
How do you envision your musical journey?
I am a traveller and have sung all through my travels, I am now living in Bolzano & envision sharing my music here too. I sing where ever I can, small festivals & local venues, on camping trips, around the fire, to my friends, to the ocean. I have always felt pressured to do more with my music ( promote more, spend more, record more) but I have realised that all I need to do is do what is fulfilling, right now that’s playing live and sharing my perspectives in this beautiful part of the world.
